So I’m a “Nutrition Coach?”
Nowadays in the era of social media, everyone seems to be a nutrition expert. It’s hard to differentiate between the folks who know what they are talking about and the ones who are looking for fast clicks and likes; the ones willing to say anything to get that done. No matter how extreme it might be.
Let me preface this post with this statement, I am no expert and I’m not a scientist, but I do know what I’m talking about. Sometimes I get it wrong and when I do, I research why. I know that nutrition is finicky beast and it’s different for everyone. There is no one size fits all to nutrition, but there is a lot of junk out there is just plain and simply….wrong.
I’ve been exactly where you are, scrolling the interwebs wondering who and what is the right way to eat. Put simply, I am a nerd when it comes to nutrition. I went through a lot of trial and error, a lot of getting sucked into the “fads” of paleo, primal eating, and the zone diet. The shoe fits cause I am one of those crazy crossfitters, and with that territory comes those three diets I just listed.
And I’ll say this, they did work…but why did they work? I put my self in a caloric deficit, plain and simple. Cutting out processed sugar and a lot of junk, naturally made me lose weight. Easy. But what it also did was made me weak, cranky, unmotivated and also reeked havoc on my menstrual cycle, (I no longer had one) and spoiler alert, that’s not good.
Eventually I started to get frustrated and wanted to learn how to eat, not be obsessed and also not feel like crap.
Fast forward and I am in a place where I am confident in my own nutrition, understand that I need calories to perform and need to fuel my body to not only feel good but also look good. But beyond that, I am confident in helping others find that same power and it has become one of my greatest passions.
Turns out, our bodies are incredibly smart already, and also incredibly resilient! No one is a lost cause and contrary to what main stream media says, no one is stuck being obese or miserable. Finding success in nutrition, finding health…it’s for everyone, no matter your background or history with food. You just need the right help and the right plan.
And the good news is, you can’t fail. Truly. One of my very favorite points is from expert Jordan Syatt; the only way you fail at improving your nutrition is giving up completely. It’s not a straight path to success or confidence in eating. It’s jagged and all over, but if you just keep with, keep trying, keep working….you’re gonna make it. Promise.
Stay tuned for more “educational posts”. But for now, you know that I’ve been exactly where you might feel right now and I genuinely believe, I can help.
